Our Mission.
The organization was created and is supported by alumni, old friends and new friends of the school Ohr Torah in Toulouse, France.
Following the terrible events that befell on the school in 2012 and given the general sense on insecurity felt by the Jewish community in France some have left the country but many still remain and are in need now more than ever of strong Jewish institutions. The school Ohr Torah in Toulouse under the outstanding leadership of Rabbi and Mrs Monsonego is one such institution and needs the support of its friends in the US.
American Friends of Ohr Torah's goal is to raise money for the benefit of Ohr Torah in Toulouse in order to do our part to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and continued success for all who attend and will attend the school.
Awards.
Rabbi and Mrs Monsonego awarded the 2016 Edmond Tenoudji Prize for Education, due to their incredible work with children for 25 years and the creation of an amazing jewish Educational City in Toulouse.
Honors.
On Wednesday September 2016, Rav Yaacov Monsonego received the Legion of Honor by the Prime Minister Manuel Valls.
